Tuesday Mumblings - Still dusty, still no rains......

It's a dusty windy, almost chilly day from where I sit. Still no rains in sight though each morning I am tempted by the 'smell of rains in the air' as I walk from my back door to my garage (they are not joined). And then I remain hopeful till I reach my work 30 minutes later and only see dust and agricaultural topsoil blowing all over the place, then I know no rains in sight yet. Sigh........!

The week has started with a bang and a quick trot to the weekend is inevitable.....I'm back at the office after having a totally-relaxing-lazing about-doing nothing-just-because-I-can-week after my operation. My boss said I looked totally refreshed, I felt refreshed till I got home after 5pm and was totally dead tired (poofed). I made dinner for the family, didn't even bother to eat, in the bath by 19:30 and in bed by 20:30. I didn't even have energy to read!!! Today I am feeling better but admit to having swallowed a few vitamins this morning!

I am counting the days till our (sunny summer) December vacation. From tomorrow morning it will be 73 days (including weekends!). Yes I thought youmight be dying to know this. We might get a few days 'early discount' if the kids' schools close before 11th December as per calendar. They always close a week before the date on the calendar in December, but i was cautious this year as they had almost double their JUne/July holidays due to being closed during the whole of the Soccer World Cup. So they basically need to work till 11th December, but I'll only know for sure some time mid November when we get their end of year exam rosters. Then we will see if we have a few days discount, if so we plan on leaving a few days earlier and instead of travelling in one long trip will travel over 2 days as mom-in-laws legs and bloodclots can't handle 12 hours travel almost in one sitting. It gives us time to rest at the Gariep Dam or someplace close. I am already envisaging this December vacation!! Sun and sea!! Yippee!!

Before then though I get to take a week's working trip to Tanzania. We have a factory there and this will be my third training trip up north. (me training thm). I pretty much enjoy it, mainly because as I train them I end up re-training myself and making sure I keep on top of what I'm supposed to know. Despite the fact I wouldn't want to permanently live there or even visit for too long a while due to bad infrastructure and health situation and just general decriptness only found north of our borders, the people are always wonderful. I'll have to polish up my minimal Swahili just to impress them!! I can already see their amazed faces if I recall a sentence or three, I think I last visited 3 years ago.

Anyway, till another day when we chat again, take care and have a wonderful week.

LG

I enjoyed reading your thoughts and plans for the coming months. Your life and the places you see are so very different than mine. It's funny to think that people can live in such diverse places and do such different activities, but how under it all we are so much the same.

Hope you get your strength back quickly. I know it will be quite a task to get myself back into the work groove when I get another job. I've enjoyed staying at home and puttering around so much.

It's been so windy here too and humid. Can't make it mind up whether to head towards summer or stick with winter....

Your work trip sounds exciting. All I ever get are trips to one of our branches two blocks over from us (Head Office). Ho hum!

This strikes me like such an exotic post as you talk about far away lands, that I might never visit.
That is the allure of blogging, one can travel and learn without leaving the comfort of ones home.;)
